While there are many online word games available now, I still enjoy playing the New York Times Wordle game daily. It’s not just a classic favorite; it also serves as a great warm-up for games like Connections, Strands, and others.

We’ve also compiled a ranking of all the letters in the alphabet based on their frequency, which you can use to choose the most effective starting words.

Everyday Wordle Hints

I’ve written extensively about Wordle, covering its 1,000th word, sharing a list of the best starter words, outlining a two-step strategy, and reporting on controversial word changes. I even compiled insights from playing the popular online word puzzle for an entire year. If you’re reconsidering whether you need today’s answer, you might find useful tips in one of those articles.

Looking for a good starter word? One idea is to pick a five-letter object you see around you, like COUCH or CHAIR. Personally, I prefer using words that include the most common letters in English. My go-to is TRAIN, though a friend of mine swears by TRAIL. Some players opt for the financial term ROATE, but I prefer sticking to words I’m familiar with.

What is Wordle Hints?

If you’ve made it this far, you already know how Wordle works. You have six attempts to guess a five-letter word, with feedback guiding you on whether your guessed letters are in the word and if they’re in the correct position. The New York Times acquired Wordle from its creator, Josh Wardle, in 2022 for a seven-figure deal.

Wardle Hints originally designed the game as a gift for his partner, who helped narrow down the list of 12,000 five-letter English words to just 2,500 possible answers. Fittingly, Wardle’s name itself is a clever nod to “word.”

According to a Times spokesperson, the first Wordle puzzle was published on June 19, 2021, and the game reached its 1,000th word milestone on March 15. Fun fact: the 1,000th word was ERUPT—fitting for moments like when “Dad might erupt if the Wordle is so tricky it breaks his streak!”
